Sparc Technologies Ltd (ASX:SPN) is an Australian technology company developing graphene-based materials for applications in coatings, composites, and sustainable technologies.

The company has signed a 24-month collaboration agreement with Detmold Packaging Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of the Detmold Group, to jointly explore the development of graphene-enhanced paper packaging materials. The agreement sets out a research and development framework to evaluate the potential of graphene to improve packaging properties such as barrier resistance, strength, weight, flexibility, and durability.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sparc will focus on producing and testing graphene-infused polymer formulations suitable for paper packaging applications. Detmold will incorporate these materials into packaging prototypes and perform lab testing to assess compliance with industry standards. If the results meet agreed performance thresholds, both parties may move to pilot production trials with shared costs.

This partnership follows discussions initiated in Q2 2024 and aligns with Sparc’s broader strategy to expand its graphene additive research beyond coatings and into adjacent polymer markets. The collaboration is viewed by the company as a step toward longer-term commercial opportunities.

The agreement does not guarantee commercialisation of the developed products. Any such step would be subject to a separate, future agreement between the two parties. The current arrangement has an initial term of 24 months, with provisions for early termination by mutual agreement.

SPN shares were trading at AUD 0.16 per share at the time of writing on 30 May 2025. On a YTD basis the share price has decreased by approximately 13.16%.
