Hyundai Motor Co. has promoted two executives to new roles in a move to bolster its global sales leadership and North American manufacturing operations, the automaker announced May 2. Philippe Guerin-Boutaud was named EVP of the newly established global product management division, overseeing global sales performance, improving profitability and product leadership. While Chris Susock was promoted to chief manufacturing officer, a new position that consolidates oversight of the automaker’s U.S. manufacturing operations, including Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and its Metaplant America electric vehicle factory in Georgia. In a May 2 LinkedIn post, Mark Rader, who was SVP and COO of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama and has been with the company since 2003, announced his promotion to president and CEO of the operation, succeeding Susock in the role. While Hyundai did not point to business uncertainty fueled by tariffs as the reason for its new executive roles, the automaker in the announcement said the move will “reinforce our focus on execution, innovation, and sustained growth as we navigate a rapidly evolving industry landscape.” The latest executive appointments at Hyundai follow a wave of C-suite changes by the automaker meant to prepare it for global business uncertainties. “Philippe and Chris are trusted and accomplished leaders who bring proven expertise, strategic insight, and a deep commitment to excellence,” José Muñoz, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor Co., said in a statement. “Philippe’s global perspective and product vision will help us unlock greater value across our portfolio, while Chris’s manufacturing leadership will strengthen operational efficiency and quality in North America.” Guerin-Boutaud joined Hyundai as SVP of the global products directors office in November 2022, per his LinkedIn profile. His previous experience includes time with Renault Group as EVP of quality and total customer satisfaction. Susock has been with the company since 2004. He worked for Ford Motor Co. for 15 years in various manufacturing roles before joining Hyundai. Recommended Reading Hyundai posts its highest Q1 revenue in company history View Comments
