Highlights
- Sampling identifies 173.5 g/t gold at Defender within the Hook Lake Project.
- Additional targets confirm gold, silver, copper, zinc, and lead mineralisation.
- Regional assays indicate broad exploration potential across Nunavut’s greenstone belt.
Manhattan Corporation Ltd (ASX:MHC) announced further assay results from its maiden fieldwork program at the Hook Lake Project in Nunavut, Canada. The program has revealed high-grade gold mineralisation at the Defender prospect, returning a peak rock chip sample of 173.5 g/t gold (sample M209566). The mineralisation occurs within a quartz-carbonate vein cutting a sulphide banded iron formation, suggesting the presence of a hydrothermal system.
The Defender results build on previous findings from other project areas, reinforcing Hook Lake’s potential to host multiple mineralisation styles. Detailed aeromagnetic data, currently being collected, is expected to support further analysis of mineralisation controls at the site.
Gold and Polymetallic Values Across Multiple Targets
Results from the broader maiden sampling program confirmed widespread gold and base metal occurrences across several targets, including Jaws, Vesper, Quantum, and Lotus.
- Jaws and Vesper returned gold grades up to 14.55 g/t Au (sample M209504).
- Quantum and Lotus produced up to 16 g/t Au (sample M209533) and 2,600 g/t Ag (sample M209523).
- Three volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) targets reported up to 29.97% Zn (sample M209553), 1.85% Cu (sample M209527), and 116 g/t Ag (sample M209527).
At the Moonraker prospect, located on the northern flank of the Omega BIF, sulphide-bearing samples produced additional polymetallic results:
- 0.28 g/t Au, 625 g/t Ag, 2.75% Zn, 0.45% Cu, 1.12% Pb, and 0.33% Sb (sample M209545).
- 2.16 g/t Au, 607 g/t Ag, 1.52% Zn, 0.32% Cu, 0.86% Pb, and 0.25% Sb (sample M209546).
These results indicate mineralisation extending beyond the initial focus areas and highlight additional targets for potential follow-up and drill testing.
Expanding Project Pipeline in Nunavut
The Hook Lake Project covers nine prospects across three mineral claims and exploration agreements, totalling 580 km² within the Rankin-Ennadai greenstone belt. The belt also hosts other significant deposits, including Agnico Eagle’s Meliadine Mine and B2Gold’s Goose & George Project.
The company’s maiden program did not include the Thunderball (formerly Spook) target in the far northeast, where previous exploration (1987–1998) identified ten zones of gold and base metal mineralisation over a 2 km by 2 km area. Thunderball is expected to be revisited following the completion of the ongoing high-resolution aeromagnetic survey.
