  • Study confirms grid power as a viable solution for the project’s energy needs in Argentina’s Catamarca Province.

  • Kachi to benefit from broader regional electrical interconnection project supported by provincial Lithium Board.

Shares of Lake Resources N.L. (ASX:LKE) surged 14.8% to AUD 0.031 in morning trading after the company announced the successful completion of a critical infrastructure milestone for its flagship Kachi Lithium Brine Project in Argentina’s Catamarca Province.

The company confirmed that the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) study, conducted by YPF Luz, has been finalised. The study outlines a clear path forward for connecting Kachi to the national power grid, a development seen as key to the project's scalability and long-term sustainability.

FEED Study Confirms Grid Power Viability

Initiated in May 2024, the FEED study defines the proposed route, system design specifications, and integration options to meet Kachi’s projected electricity demands. Lake Resources noted that the study’s completion is a pivotal step in establishing reliable energy infrastructure for the project, marking significant progress in its overall development roadmap.

David Dickson, CEO of Lake Resources, commented on the development, stating, “The completion of the FEED study is an important step forward for Lake and the Kachi Project and shows that grid power is a viable solution to meet the project’s power demands.”

Lake also acknowledged the professional execution of the study by YPF Luz and confirmed that both parties remain engaged in discussions on the next phase of implementation.

Strategic Partnership to Enhance Regional Power Infrastructure

In a complementary announcement, YPF Luz and Central Puerto S.A. have entered into a strategic agreement to jointly develop an electrical interconnection project across Argentina’s Puna Region, which includes the Kachi project area. This initiative aims to improve access to power and support the sustainable expansion of mining operations in the region.

The interconnection project has received backing from the Lithium Board, which comprises the governors of Jujuy, Salta, and Catamarca Provinces. The broader objective is to enhance the region’s power capacity, reliability, and integration of renewable energy solutions for industrial and mining applications.

Lake Resources views this development as a material benefit for Kachi.

Kachi Project Positioned for Development Acceleration

The Kachi Lithium Brine Project is Lake’s flagship asset and one of the more advanced lithium brine developments in South America. With the completion of the FEED study and regional infrastructure support initiatives underway, the project is positioned to move into the next phase.
