Bayan Mining initiates reconnaissance and sampling program at its Bayan Springs project in Nevada.
Exploration targets high-priority gold and silver zones identified through advanced hyperspectral and geological studies.
Initial sample analysis to be conducted on-site using handheld XRF devices before lab-based geochemical testing.
Bayan Mining and Minerals Ltd (ASX:BMM) has commenced a reconnaissance and sampling campaign at its Bayan Springs multi-minerals project in Nevada, marking a significant step toward uncovering the site's potential for gold and silver mineralisation.
The fieldwork is focused on several high-priority exploration targets, pinpointed through a combination of hyperspectral satellite imagery and comprehensive geological desktop studies carried out by Dahrouge Geological Consulting USA Ltd and Dirt Exploration. These targets are believed to hold key mineral indicators that could point to economically viable deposits.
Speaking on the commencement of the program, Executive Director Fadi Diab described the field campaign as “a key step in progressing the project potential for gold and silver mineralisation.” He added that the integration of advanced satellite data, legacy exploration records, and hands-on field validation will allow the company to prioritise the most promising zones for future detailed work.
The geological studies have already identified multiple zones within the project area that exhibit spectral signatures associated with minerals like antimony (stibnite), sulphur, illite, and hydrogen anomalies. These geochemical markers are typically correlated with the presence of silver, antimony, and gold, strengthening confidence in the site’s prospectivity.
As part of the initial program, field teams will collect and screen samples using a handheld XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analyser. This portable device allows for rapid, on-site identification of key elements and helps sort promising samples for further lab-based geochemical analysis.
The Bayan Springs project is situated in a geologically rich region of Nevada, a state with a long-standing reputation for mineral wealth—particularly gold and silver.
Shares of Bayan Mining were trading at 3.9 cents during early trade on Friday.
