Highlights
- Maiden RC drilling begins following environmental approvals at El Aguila.
- Program targets known mineralisation and untested geophysical and structural zones.
- Historical sampling and drilling show notable gold–silver grades across prospects.
Battery Age Minerals (ASX:BM8) has commenced its maiden reverse-circulation drilling program at the El Aguila Gold–Silver Project, located in Santa Cruz Province, Argentina. The activity follows the receipt of full Environmental Impact Assessment approval from provincial authorities, finalising the authorisations required for the drilling phase. The drilling contractor, MD Perforaciones (Macizo del Deseado Perforaciones S.A.), has mobilised to site to execute the program within the Deseado Massif gold–silver belt.
Program Structure and Technical Focus
The RC program has been designed to advance geological knowledge across the 91 km² project area. The work plan integrates multiple datasets, including 2,238 soil samples, 327 line-km of ground magnetics and 58 line-km of gradient IP/resistivity surveys. The program aims to undertake infill drilling at Aguila Main to define mineralisation, assess strike and depth extensions, and test new structural and geophysical targets at Verbena and Aguila South. Initial drilling is concentrating on mapped quartz–sulphide veins that extend over more than one kilometre, supported by high-grade surface assays. All samples will be dispatched progressively to ALS Global in Mendoza for analysis under BM8’s established QA/QC protocols.
Historical Exploration and Grade Profile
Historical work at the El Aguila Project has reported several high-grade gold–silver intercepts. Previous drilling returned intervals such as 0.55 m at 40.55 g/t Au and 107 g/t Ag (DDA-08), 7.00 m at 2.48 g/t Au including 1.7 m at 9.02 g/t Au (DDA-25), 3.00 m at 5.97 g/t Au (DDA-34) and 22.00 m at 0.94 g/t Au and 62 g/t Ag (CRC-01). Rock-chip sampling has also yielded elevated grades, including 174.6 g/t Au and 327 g/t Ag at Aguila South (#103036), 44.2 g/t Au and 4,739 g/t Ag at Aguila Main (#110) and 55.9 g/t Au and 61 g/t Ag at Aguila South (#103041). These results outline multiple mineralised trends now being tested through the current RC program.
Operational Readiness and Field Deployment
All required field logistics, environmental monitoring systems and communication infrastructure have been established in preparation for the drilling phase. The commencement of drilling at Aguila Main marks the transition from planning activities to full field execution. Subsequent drilling will target additional anomalies at Aguila South and Verbena where geophysical signatures and surface geochemistry indicate potential concealed mineralised structures.
Next Steps
The first phase of drilling, estimated at 2,000–3,000 m, is expected to run for four to six weeks. Sample dispatch to ALS Mendoza will occur on a rolling basis. Planning for a follow-up diamond drilling program will commence once initial results are reviewed.
