Metrics Income Opportunities Trust (ASX:MOT) reported a trailing 12-month net return of 8.67%, reflecting outcomes across its private credit and equity-linked investment exposures. According to the latest fund update, the trust’s 1-month and 3-month net returns stood at 0.67% and 1.86% respectively, with returns compounded monthly.

Distribution returns for the same 12-month period were 8.23%, while longer-term performance included 3-year and 5-year net returns of 9.28% and 9.29%. Since inception, the trust has delivered an annualised net return of 8.86%. The update reiterates that past performance is not a reliable indicator of future performance.

Portfolio Structure and Investment Mix

The trust held 276 individual investments during the period, with seven new positions added and six exited. The portfolio included 40% senior-ranking exposures, demonstrating its allocation across the capital structure.

Interest duration was reported at 23 days, while credit duration measured 1.1 years. These metrics form part of the trust’s approach to managing interest rate and credit-related risks across its private credit investments.

MOT invests in a wide range of asset types including loans, notes, bonds and, where applicable, instruments such as warrants, options, preference shares and equity. The strategy aims to provide monthly cash income while offering potential for additional upside through selected equity-linked exposures.

Metrics Income Opportunities Trust operates under ARSN 631 320 628, with The Trust Company (RE Services) Limited acting as the responsible entity. The trust is managed by Metrics Credit Partners Pty Ltd, an alternative asset manager with experience in private credit, fixed income, equity and capital markets. Metrics currently manages assets exceeding AUD 30B.

The trust targets a cash return of 7% p.a. net of fees, paid monthly, and a total return of 8–10% p.a. net of fees through the economic cycle, as outlined in its investor objective framework.
