Pilot Company has named Jesús Guerra as the next president of Pilot Energy, a company spokesperson said on Friday. He will succeed Gary Hoogeveen, who is retiring but will stay with the company through April 2026 to support the transition. Guerra will oversee the company’s fuel supply chain, including upstream infrastructure and asset management, logistics, transportation and sales, according to his biography on the company website. He’ll also lead the development of electric and alternative energy solutions and the growth and optimization of the company’s traditional and renewable fuels. Guerra joined Pilot in 2018 as director of trade operations, according to his LinkedIn bio. He came from Noble Americas Corp, the oil arm of Noble Group, where he spent four years as oil liquids business manager, supporting the Global Oil Liquids Trading business. He also spent more than seven years working across multiple roles with the commodities division of Merrill Lynch. “Jesús has been with Pilot since 2018, has decades of experience in the energy sector, and is committed to Pilot’s purpose-driven strategy,” said Adam Wright, CEO of Pilot. “Jesús will work alongside the rest of the executive leadership team to guide our energy vertical and deliver on Pilot's ambition to be the leading energy and experience provider people rely on to fuel their journeys.” Hoogeveen, who became president of Pilot Energy in April 2024, has held several leadership positions with Pilot’s parent company, Berkshire Hathaway, over the past two decades. Before taking the lead at Pilot Energy, he spent 10 years as president and CEO of Rocky Mountain Power, an electric utility firm under Berkshire Hathaway’s PacifiCorp brand. Prior to that, he spent four years as president of Kern River Gas Transmission Company, which operates an interstate natural gas pipeline through Wyoming, Utah, Nevada and California. “Gary Hoogeveen has been an instrumental part of shaping Pilot’s core energy business and future strategy,” said Wright.
