Arieon Stokes from Forest Park High School and Thomas Brandel from Mount Saint Joseph High School were awarded $7,500 scholarships, while Tristian Savage from Milford Mill Academy and Angel Franco from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School both received $5,000 scholarships. During the ceremony, keynote speaker Aly Raisman, Olympic Gold Medalist and former Team USA gymnastics captain, engaged in an on-stage question-and-answer conversation, which was moderated by emcee Scott Garceau, sports radio personality and broadcaster, and featured questions from student-athletes in attendance. Ms. Carter, a member of the wrestling team at Franklin High School, is a standout student-athlete who exemplifies resilience, leadership, and dedication. Despite personal challenges, she remained committed to her team, mentoring younger wrestlers and delivering exceptional performances. Her unwavering perseverance led to a second-place county finish and earned her the prestigious Charles Perry McCormick Scholarship. Ms. Carter's ability to inspire and uplift those around her makes her a true role model in both academics and athletics. Mr. Simpson, a member of the men's football team at Owings Mills High School, is an exceptional student-athlete who embodies resilience, leadership, and selflessness. Despite facing a profound family loss, he remained a pillar of strength for his team, mentoring younger players and excelling in multiple positions. His dedication helped secure a historic 11-1 season, showcasing his commitment to team success over individual accolades.
