Recovery Rate (mining) is the quantity of metal available for sale post the refining process. For example, if a mining company mentions that it holds a resource of 100 million tonnes of 10 per cent copper with a recovery of 80 per cent, the investors could calculate the sellable amount as 0.10 multiply by 0.80 = 8 per cent of 100 million tonnes resource, i.e., 8 million tonnes.
